About

I always worry that these About pages are going to end up sounding like an example of how not to fill out a dating site questionnaire. I don't know that for sure, because I'm married, and I've never had the opportunity to do any online dating. But I'm paranoid about it, nonetheless.

After that last paragraph, it will likely come as no surprise to you that I'm a little on the awkward side.

In addition to awkward, I'm also a little nerdy - Buffy, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Firefly/Serenity, The Walking Dead etc. are favorites. I love to read (again, a huge lack of surprise) and I'm also a craft fiend - sewing, cross stitching, knitting, jewelry making, pottery, card making...pretty much if the craft exists, I want to do it. Except for crocheting. No matter how hard I try, I can't make that work.

But writing is my passion. I love creating stories where the magical and mundane collide, and it's necessary for the characters to find their way out of the darkness of their lives.

I'm married to an awesome guy who makes me laugh (hugely important) and we have two amazing teenage boys and three psychotic cats. I love animals, but cats are my favorite. Of course, if I could get away with having pet bats, foxes and squirrels, I totally would.

I live in Michigan and I love it. It's full of a wild sort of beauty that sometimes seems almost otherworldly. Wild crashing waves on the shores of the Great Lakes, dark, tangled forests and rolling hills. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

  1. You sound very cool and like we'd definitely have fun together. I love it when people describe their teenagers as amazing instead of the normal "pain in the ass." haha. I have a teenage son and a teenage daughter, and they are both AWESOME! I also have two older daughters. (twenty-one and twenty-two) They fell more into the "pain in the ass" category as teens, but they're much cooler now. haha

Michigan sounds much prettier than SE GA. lol...I do like our weather though!

  2. Aw, no crochet? ;) As far as crafts, crochet is all I can do. I am not a crafty person at all, otherwise. Don't ask me to do jewelry or I'll end up a tangled mess of wire. I'm in Southern Wisconsin, we should meet up sometime. I've got kids and critters and I'm probably allergic to foxes, but I'd have one of those if I could, too. And squirrels, well, if you've seen any of my blog, you know I've got a thing for squirrels (got to dig into the posts). ;) Had to comment, because I love meeting other writers I can relate to. Looking forward to more posts.
